Thorsten Knaub was born in Erlangen, Germany. He gained a Master in Fine Art Media (Slade School of Art, 1997-99), and a BA in Fine Art (Byam Shaw School of Art, 1994-97).
Knaub works with a variety of media and has utilised video, sound, performance, GPS technologies and drawing in his art practice. His work often deals with ideas of how recording technologies, data and information systems may mediate our experiences and presence in the world.
He has exhibited nationally and internationally. Recent solo exhibitions include Dark Cloud, Project Space 11, Plymouth (2010), The Cinema Machine, Outpost Gallery Norwich (2006); recent group exhibitions include Poétique du Chantier at Annecy Castle Museum in France (2010).
